We have had a ‘time out’ called!
Thank God!
After watching Harper’s speech last night I thought we were done. The man has proven, even to me, he does not have the people skills he needs to do this job.
I still believe the Conservatives are the party to take us through this economic crisis rather than the coalition. I trust none of them as individuals; I trust them less as a coalition.
Steven Harper continued to be a disappointment last night with his inability to make it even ‘appear’ that he is extending an olive branch.
He simply doesn’t get it. That being said I‘m not dating the man. Just asking him to get us out of this mess.
The public will deal with him later.
As far as Steven Dion is concerned, I was just as disappointed.
CTV News reported that his taped speech was delivered to them ‘late’ last night and the quality made me think of a cell phone camera.
This does nothing to gain him credibility. And the Bloc rantings about how this is good for Quebec and therefore good for separatism scare me.
Now the G.G. has prorogued the government until the end of January.
At that point Harper will reveal a budget and we see if it sticks.
If it does we move on. If it doesn’t we have an election.
I feel this is the best plan. How can we not give the party the chance to produce a budget? The house has only been sitting for a few weeks.
Why?
The Liberals do not have a budget either. And there is no way the coalition can form a government and have one ready ANY sooner than the Conservatives. It simply is not possible.
You cannot throw money around without research and see what the U.S. is doing. The U.S. auto talks are in session right now.
So what’s the hurry? If a plant is going to close this month or next there isn’t much any government can do that quickly? Those decisions were made months ago.
At least if this government stays in place the deals they are already working on with the likes of Ontario can continue.
Harper now has to come up with a budget that will keep all happy.
If he gives the Coalition everything they were complaining about. They really can’t over throw the government. Why would you? ‘Cause you simply don’t like the man?
Sooner or later there will be another election. But in the mean time let’s get on with the economy.
That being said; Harper, after his meeting with the G.G. talked to reporters today and gave the speech he should have given last night on TV.
He said he was looking for suggestions on the budget from the coalition.
The rest simply said no matter what, he is out come January. That is not productive either. The Bloc also went on rampage claiming Quebec has been stomped on.
Harper must deliver a budget the Canadian people like. If they do, the coalition is dead…..If not? Then we get an election…
I think the G.G. made the correct choice…
Until the next time…
