Hamilton’s leaders, voted 9-6, to reverse the L-R-T subcommittee’s decision to add an L-R-T stop at Bay Street.
My first thought was, here we go with the stadium all over again.
One step forward, two steps back.
Why wouldn’t you want a stop in the centre of downtown where City Hall, The new Mac building, and First Ontario Centre, all unite?
With lots of potential for more, it’s a no brainer.
But here is another example of our stuck in the mud city council who after losing their particular vote continue to derail the project instead of moving on and making the project a success.
It is exactly this type of politics that have kept this city in the dark ages for the last few decades.
Yes budget creep is a major concern that deserves a hawk eye.
But it would seem the future development would far outweigh the cost.
After all, it is major city hub.
Which makes one ask, why wasn’t it included in the first place?
