America Speaks...History Is Made

History has been made. The United States has elected the countries first black president.
As you watched last night you knew you were watching history in the making.
Seeing the thousands of people in the streets proved just how big an event this is.
Whatever you were doing, last night will be etched in your memory forever like the first time man walked on the moon or remembering where you were when you heard John Lennon had been shot.
The best point I heard last night was from a black professor who said, it’s not what Barack Obama can do for blacks, it’s what blacks now realize they can do for themselves. Anything is possible. Anyone can grow up to be president.
Americans now must realize, one man can’t fix every problem but one man has given a country the strength and leadership to solve those problems together.
A great day for America….A great day for the way the world views America.

America Votes Today !!!

The United States of America is voting for a new president as I write this.

I must admit it is the first time I have seen an election get this much attention both in Canada and south of the border.

The main reason is no matter who wins; history will be made as the U.S. will see either the first woman vice president or the first black president.

The polls say Barack Obama is way out in front but I must say I’m not convinced until the polls close.

I am still not sure the USA will vote for a black president. It would be great if they did as it would show the rest of the world they have come a long way in the last 50 years but there has been a lot of fear mongering over the last few months. We’ll have to wait until later tonight to see if it mattered.

Also it has been a while since a leader (Barack Obama) has generated so much positive energy. Most have written off our Politian’s as self serving individualists. It’s a nice change to see the public behind a leader.

Assuming he does win, the pressure is on not to let the world down with the same ol’ same ol’.

I’m cautiously optimistic but not holding my breath.

What Extra Hour of Sleep???

Last Thursday and Friday I was dreaming of the weekend and the extra hour of sleep we were getting courtesy of the time change.

Here it is Monday and I’m wacked! Why? No one told my kids they could sleep in an extra hour!

As a matter of fact Kurtis was up two hours earlier than usual and then fell back asleep as soon as the rest of us had to get up…..It’s just not right!

Kid’s who do not look at clocks, don’t care what time it is!

This is further proof just how hard it is on the system moving the clocks back and forth twice a year.

Also,

I thought that Halloween arriving before the time change (therefore not dark, as early) kids would wait until at least 6:30pm before heading out. Nope…

Apparently there are parents who feel Trick or Treating is more fun in the daylight.

Go home! Eat a good dinner!....It’s not a race. There is lots of candy to go around.

I swear there are parents that have their kids finished for the night and in bed before the first pumpkin is lit.

All right, I’ll stop…

I’m grumpy because I had an extra hour of sleep that I somehow missed!

Enough about Me. What about you???

The great thing about blogging is it gives me the opportunity to interact with people one on one while the rest watch.  It seems people have more to say when you can't see them.  I'm not sure if that's good or bad.  

This blog will cover everything from everyday life to world issues.  From NASCAR to politics.  However we ain't splitting the atom here.  The most important thing is hearing from YOU!
