Yesterday I walked into the McDonald’s at Jackson Square to report for duty for the annual McHappy Day.
I have been helping with McHappy Day as long as I have been in radio, which is a while, although I missed the first few which started in 1977.
Nadia the manager was working on her 14th.
In case you live under a rock, and not near a golden arches, that’s where $1. from the sale of every Big Mac, Happy Meal and drink go to help Ronald McDonald House children’s charities.
The one day fund raiser has earned over $35 million for local children’s charities across Canada since its inception.
Every day 10 cents from every McHappy Meal goes to the charity, totaling $34 million so far.
This is a charity close to my heart.
Back in the 90’s I raised over $50,000 for the Hamilton Ronald McDonald House when I was Frozen Alive in a block of ice for 48 hours.
Long story…
‘
My kids love the idea I was behind the counter and steal my complimentary apron as soon as I walk in the door, right after they ask me ‘where’s the food?’
Thank you if you participated!
